Late 1950s – The origin of a dream

Ibiza in the late fifties lived through times of hardship, but also of hope. In the midst of that reality, Vicente Tur, a young entrepreneur from Ibiza, decided to emigrate to Venezuela, where he discovered the craft and passion for coffee.

1958 – The first roast

Upon his return to the island, with the savings from those years and together with some partners, he founded a small coffee roastery. It was 1958, just as tourism was beginning to transform Ibiza and open the door to new opportunities.

The beginnings in the Marina District

The first roasts were done in a cave in the Marina District, the neighborhood of the sailors. The aroma of freshly roasted coffee began to fill the streets and become part of the island’s everyday landscape.

The years of smuggling

Green coffee was controlled by the government, and the quotas were limited and of low quality. To maintain production, Vicente found ways to obtain smuggled coffee, even carrying out nighttime exchanges with merchant ships near Ses Salines and Es Codolar. A time of ingenuity, hard work, and great passion.

Growth and consolidation

Over the years, the brand grew, invested, and innovated, always staying true to its commitment to quality and to the people who trust its coffee every day.

Today

More than six decades later, Cafés Ibiza continues roasting on the island, combining tradition with the highest quality. We are part of the everyday life of Ibiza and Formentera, and we carry the name of our land beyond the sea, with the same dedication with which it all began.

Each sip of our coffee awakens the senses, connecting those who taste it to a tradition that transcends time and turning every cup into a tribute to our legacy.
